In A Week June 7, 2009

We had mutual understanding. We shared common feelings.

Every day and night, we had meetings together. We understood what being tired mean and what it feels like to stay up all night.

We argued yet we understood that we argued for a common ground – to make MYC a better conference.

We understood what is was like to be under stress, to not be able to sleep because of work.

Bonds were created as we spent time together, joked with each other, danced and went crazy together, laughed and even cried together.

On the first day, when I arrived at UPM I had doubts. I had no idea how am I going to work with a group of people I have never met before. I had no idea whether I would be of any help. I had no idea if this group of strangers will even approve of me. I didn’t know what to say to or do when meeting all these people, what more work with them.

Yet, we did and I think we did an amazing job too.

By the end of the week, we were laughing at each others’ ridiculous antics and making fun of each other. By the end of the week, we are already talking about visiting each other and predicting who would marry first and insisting that we get invited to the wedding.

A week. A week was all it took to form that connection between people who might never had even crossed roads. Nevertheless, the connection or the bond was strengthen by the difference that we all have.

It was our different personalities, our different ideas and attitude, our different levels of loudness, craziness or even dancing abilities was what sealed that bond we formed.

Our difference was what made our friendships possible.

I wrote to Michelle on the back of a photo I gave her, “Meeting you was one of the best things that happened in MYC” and that rings true for all of you.

Meeting you guys are the best thing that happened in MYC. It was you guys that made me enjoy MYC this much. It was you guys that mattered.

My dear fellow facilitators, thank you. Thank you for making this such an amazing experience. Thanks for making being there when stress hits or what I’m overwhelmed with emotions. Thanks for never failing to make me laugh so hard that my tummy always aches. Thank you for just being you.

As our common understanding formed a bond between us, our difference sealed it. And so with this sealed bond that connects each one of us in the team, let us let our friendship grow even more and let it bring us closer.

I believe that we will meet again one day. I might know when or where but I know we will.

Thank you again. I love you guys!

Okay, I have over 15gb of pictures needed to be sorted out. So pictures will be up a little later!
